Hello all potential staff members, the Operations department of Sakura-Con is looking for volunteers! Not only will you get a free staff membership and avoid those registration lines, but you will directly contribute to helping do what it takes to make the convention run smoothly. We have multiple positions open which are as follows:
Sakura-Con Attendee Services (SAS) sas@sakuracon.org
SAS positions are responsible for the enforcement of Sakura-Con Policies and for communication of event locations. All candidates must be over the age of 18. The positions available are:
- Line Control Staff: Ensure that Main Event and Registration lines do not form before the allotted time, and that priority seating and ADA access is given.
- General Floor Staff: Enforce Sakura-Con policies regarding hallway traffic flow, attendee badges, costumes, and peace-bonding.
- Package Check Staff: Run the package check area during dances to assist convention attendees with securing props and personal items.

Logistics logistics@sakuracon.org
Logistics is responsible for transporting convention equipment from our storage location to the convention center before Sakura-Con starts, and return the equipment to storage after it ends.The positions available are:
- Logistics Staff: Transport equipment to and from the convention before and after hours. This leaves lots of time to enjoy the convention itself!
- Logistics On-Call Staff: In addition to transporting equipment, on-call staff will carry a radio and respond to any logistics issues that come up during the convention.
Major requirements are:
1. Be available to work April 1st for bag stuffing, April 5th starting early morning for set-up, and April 8th until late at night after the convention is over for tear-down.
2. Be able to lift 50lbs.
3. Be able to and work well with others and in a team environment

Audio / Visual (A/V) av@sakuracon.org
A/V is in charge of setup, maintenance, and tear down of all our A/V gear for the convention. When applying, please provide any sort of background or experience you have working with either sound gear, computers, or gaming systems, due to the technical knowledge required to work our A/V gear. The positions available are:
- A/V Large Panel Staff: This team gets assigned to the largest rooms that we have at Sakura-Con. They are expected to have the highest level of knowledge in A/V.
- A/V Day Staff: This team will roam around the convention floor assisting with any issues that appear in our rooms. These will vary from "I can't get the projector to work" to "The sound isn't coming out of the speakers."
- A/V Night Staff: Same responsibilities as A/V Day Staff, however they have more space to cover over the convention since there is less activity at night.
- A/V Support Staff: This team supports our staff on the lower levels of the convention space. They have the widest range of gear to deal with.
- A/V Set-up and Tear Down Staff: This team is responsible for coming in early morning April 5th to help with set-up, and work until late at night April 8th after all events have ended for tear down. This leaves lots of time to enjoy the convention itself! However it is crucial that if you take this position, you stay until the very end and help with tear down.

Operations Office Staff will help other Sakura-Con staff and attendees alike in areas such as staff registration, dispatch, and lost & found. We are looking for pleasant, organized and energetic people to join our fun-loving office team. All you need is a positive attitude, willingness to contribute, and be able to show up during you assigned shifts! The positions available are:
- Operations Office Day Staff: Check identification for handing out staff badges, answer internal and external phone calls during the convention, coordinate dispatch needs, log in lost items received, and return lost items to their rightful owners when they come in looking for them.
- Operations Office Night Staff: Similar to day staff except you may be asked to watch over multiple duty stations simultaneously since there is less activity at night.
- Telecom Staff: In charge of setting up the conventions telecommunication systems through the use of Nextel radios and/or radio equipment, doing quality assurance testing of the equipment before convention starts, hand out equipment to assigned staff members at the beginning of convention, troubleshoot and solve problems during convention as they arise, and accept all returns of equipment after the convention is over. Requires familiarity with electronics and radio equipment, and experience working with communication systems for large events is a plus.

Panel Moderators
The Programming department is currently hiring Panel Moderators. This is an entry level staff position requiring 16 hours of work, assisting panelists in running their events. If you are interested in one of these positions please contact panelmods@sakuracon.org.

Relations

Sponsorship is looking for 3 Industry Liaisons to help with Industry Guests during their panels at the convention.
Main duties include:
o Reports to Sponsorship Department Manager and Assistant Sponsorship Manager.
o Primarily acts as point of contact for industry guests during the convention by answering questions, solving problems and addressing needs during panel and industry events. This mainly includes being available during your assigned Industry Guests' panel and other con related appearances in order to be available to answer questions and assist when needed.
o Assists in other Sponsorship Department needs as needed including procurement for bag stuffing, contacting organizations for screening permissions and other tasks that may be assigned.Qualifications:
Previous experience being a liaison is preferred but not required.
Comfortable talking to people , polite and helpful.
Must be available during assigned panels and events or when your guest has questions during the convention.To Apply:

Section 9 is hiring for 2012. We are the Guest Escorts for the bands and other guests of honor.
Section 9:
- Escorts our guests
- Around the convention center
- To and from their hotel
- Around Seattle upon request
- Guards the rooms reserved for all our guests
- Runs errands for them (i.e. retrieve food, coffee)
- Enforces their requirements for appearing (i.e. no flash photography)
Due to the high-profile nature of this job and its stresses, an interview is required before hire.

Membership

Staff Preservation
Looking for people to be involved with Staff Preservation, with all the hard working staff and voluteers needing a bite to eat or something to drink, we are looking for volunteers to help prep, serve and dish out food. With the con being around the clock, there are plenty of 4 hour shifts that need to be filled. 12 hours throughout the convention of your time is awesomely appreciated. For those who complete the 12 hours, we will write a letter of recommendation to add to your resume and a professional referral for those in the job market and for those 16 and above, the hours can count toward your community service hours. I will need your best hours of availability around the clock to best work around your convention wants and our convention needs! Membership Office Staff:
Membership is looking for people to help staff the membership office. You would be responsible for helping replace lost badges, and other secretarial duties for the membership department. If you are interested in this position please contact Erin Durdy or Alyx Lechner about these positions
Registration Shift Coordinator:
Membership is looking for Registration shift coordinators to act as shift leads for various shifts in the registration area. You would be responsible for working with the Registration Manager and Assistant Manager, overseeing the registration employees on each shift. Some management or registration experience preferred. There are two of these positions available. If you are interested in this position please contact the Registration manager.
Registration Staff:
Membership is always looking for more people to help us with registration. If you are looking for a way to step in and help Sakura Con this is the volunteer position for you! Basic computer skills and customer service experience is helpful in this position, but if you think you have what it takes email the Registration manager and get involved!
